BIOGRAPHY

As an international and award-nominated actor (Best Actor, Ottawa Awards 2021 & 2022 ), her career has spanned from Canadian Stages to those in Europe, in the United Kingdom, as well as across India. As a television actor, she is best known  for her role as Chery Lime on the Chicago Network Series, Undercover Detectives. On stage, Arya has played notable roles such as Polonius in Hamlet (UK), Jocasta in From Antigone To Medea (Greece), and Queen Satyavatia in Grandsire: The Life of Beeshma (India).

While gracing the stages of the National Arts Centre and the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, and while well producing a range of theatrical spectacles globally, Landers has also fostered a decade-long career in corporate management. With a professional background in business, marketing, and the arts, she has developed an unusual and powerful set of tools for the role of Producer and Director for Paper Picture Production’s staging of original works.

A multi-faceted artist and entrepreneur, Arya believes in fostering and mentoring fledgling talent through practical experience. Arya's academic training, coupled with her personal passion and creativity, sparked a flame for artistic mentorship.

“My vision is to continuously create inclusive opportunities for artists who would like train and hone and their skills in a professional environment, at any age or stage of their career. Without some equal opportunity to participate, there is little chance to grow both as human beings and as creators, and so I try to create that opportunity. Together, our aim is to create beautiful and inspiring theatrical shows that unify and explore our humanistic commonalities,” says Landers.

“In continuing to examine and understand the complexities of humanity, I find no greater sense of accomplishment. The ability to impact another human being through art is one the purest of expressions, a manifestation of the deeper levels of our soul."

In 2023, Landers wrote her first full length play, Grey Ghost: Prisoners of Souls and Masts. It was produced for as an 18 performance run both in Ottawa and at the Royal Theatre in Gananoque.

“My work is influenced by the context of my childhood; I grew up in an environment that did not celebrate or nurture art in the way I longed for. This artistic starvation propelled me into finding my own artistic path, and creating my own opportunities. With the mentorships of my instructors, my unquenchable thirst continued and continues to this day - unwavering.”

Arya Landers will also be directing the one woman cabaret and two hander play, The Awakening, at the Gladstone Theatre in December of 2024. In addition, Arya Landers is an award-winning painter and was named one of Ottawa’s Top 15 Visual Artists in 2022 by Faces Magazine.

Over the last decade, Miss Landers has volunteered with underprivileged children and has helped clean oceans and the environment. She is an advocate for artistic education, nature/wildlife conservation, the LGBTQIA Community, and Mental Health Awareness.
